WCC PRAYER GUIDE

July/August 2008

God's wisdom versus Man's wisdom

Man's wisdom: When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree

was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable

for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.    Genesis 3:6

God's wisdom: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

                                                                     Psalm 111:10

Man's wisdom: He catches the wise in their craftiness, and the

schemes of the wily are swept away.            Job 5:13

 God's wisdom: But God made the earth by His power;

He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched

out the heavens by His understanding.                                                                        Jeremiah 10:12

Man's wisdom: Do you see a man wise in his own eyes?  There is

more hope for a fool than for him.              Proverbs 26:12

God's wisdom: Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and

     knowledge of God!                                    Romans 11:33a

Man's wisdom:  Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and

discerning if he holds his tongue.                Proverbs 17:18

God's wisdom: ...Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of

of wisdom and knowledge.                          Colossians 2:2-3

Man's wisdom: For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's

     sight.                                                      I Corinthians 3:19

God's wisdom: But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of

all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of

mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.   James 3:17

Man's wisdom: This is what we speak, not in words taught us by

human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing

spiritual truths in spiritual words.             I Corinthians 2:13

God's wisdom:   to the only wise God be glory forever through

     Jesus Christ! Amen                                      Romans 16:27

For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom,  I Corinthians 1:25a
